Continue or cancel the Deutschlandsemesterticket?

Dear students,

Our contract for the Deutschlandsemesterticket expires in the summer semester of 2025, so we as the AStA are currently making preparations for its successor.

As student representatives, the central question is of course what the students at HTW actually want. Should the Germany Semester Ticket be continued and extended, or should the Germany Semester Ticket be phased out and students then have to find their own means of transport? Should a bicycle rental service, as is currently the case, also be offered?

In order to clarify these questions and enable a democratic decision, we are holding a ballot on Moodle in the week from January 13 to January 17. The result of the vote will be valid from a turnout of 10%; your participation in the vote is therefore important.

If a majority of votes are in favor of continuing the Deutschlandsemesterticket, we will conclude this on your behalf with the VBB. All students would then pay for a ticket via the semester fee and then receive it (unless you apply for exemption).

The options in detail

  • Deutschlandsemesterticket

    • Service as in the Deutschlandticket
    • Without bicycle transport
    • Issued as a digital ticket
    • Contract term: six semesters (April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2028)
    • Ordinary notice period: six months to the end of the respective semester
    • Special notice period in the event of a price increase: three months before the start of the semester in which the price increase comes into effect
    • Price coupling:
      • Price for the summer semester 2025 remains at 176,40 euros (29,40 euros per month)
      • The price of the Deutschlandticket is calculated as follows: Basic price of the Deutschlandticket x 0,6 x six months
      • Increases in the price of the Deutschlandticket have a delayed effect on our Deutschlandsemesterticket
      • This means that since the price of the Deutschlandticket increased to 58,00 euros on 01.01.2025, the Deutschlandsemesterticket will only amount to 208,80 euros (34,80 euros per month) from winter semester 2025/26 onwards
      • As long as the price of 58,00 euros does not increase, the price of the Germany Semester Ticket (208,80 euros) will not increase with

  • Bike rental

    These are our current bike sharing conditions in the winter semester 2024/25. We will try to provide similar conditions again (if bike sharing is desired).

    • Every rental up to 60 minutes is free of charge; thereafter one euro for every additional 30 minutes
    • Unlimited number of free rides per day
    • Can be used throughout Germany (with exceptions)

  • Solidarity model

    What does solidarity model mean?
    The old semester ticket was negotiated and concluded based on the solidarity model. The solidarity principle still applies to the Deutschland semester ticket.

    This means: If the majority (with at least 10% student participation) votes in favor of retaining the Deutschland semester ticket under the given conditions, AStA (student union) will conclude the contract with VBB for almost all HTW Berlin students. Exceptions include distance learning programs.

    Rule:
    All students receive the Deutschland semester ticket. All students pay for the Deutschland semester ticket.

    Exceptions:
    Exemptions upon application are possible, inter alia, in the following cases: study abroad semester, severe disability pass with the BI, G, GI, aG, or H mark or partial exemption in case of enrollment or de-registration during the semester
